There are hundreds of types of radiators on the market, such as stainless steel radiators, double panel radiators, and cast iron radiators just to name a few, and they can have different issues. There is one thing we agree on, people need efficient radiators to avoid huge heating bills. It is important to mention, that avoid DIY radiator replacement by an unqualified tradesman.
The Importance of Radiator Valves in the Central Heating System
Radiator valves play a crucial role in the efficiency and control of a heating system. These valves allow users to regulate the heat output of individual radiators, providing personalized comfort and energy savings. By adjusting the settings on radiator valves, occupants can fine-tune the temperature in different rooms according to their preferences. This level of control helps create a more comfortable living environment and prevents overheating or underheating of specific areas. Additionally, radiator valves enable zoned heating, allowing homeowners to optimize energy usage by selectively heating occupied rooms. The ability to independently control each radiator contributes to improved energy efficiency, reduced heating costs, and a more sustainable approach to heating homes and buildings. Therefore, radiator valves are a vital component of any modern heating system, offering both comfort and energy-saving benefits.

We can help with repair and replacement services. If either of them you need, MML Plumbing is here to help.
You have two options, either replacing your TRVs or changing the whole radiator.
How much will it cost and how long does it take?
The replacement itself doesn’t take long. About 5-10 minutes or a little longer depending on the size of your radiator. Remove the old thermostatic valve.
However, to replace them, the whole system has to be drained down. Depending on the system size, this could take between 1-5 hours. When all the water has drained from the radiator, keep unscrewing the nut until you can pull the valve out of the radiator to disconnect it. Then replace it with your new valve.
In some cases, it is possible to change them without draining the heating system.
